Yes, the Lighter airdrop already happened: on December 30, 2025 Lighter launched its LIT token and airdropped 25% of the supply (250M LIT) to the 12.5M points earned in Seasons 1 and 2, an average of 20 LIT per point. Season 2 ended on December 26, 2025. As of October 14, 2026 Lighter has not announced a Season 3; the only live points program is Lighter on Robinhood Chain. Trading on Lighter’s Standard account is still 0% maker and 0% taker.

1. LIT allocation and vesting
Lighter published the split in its LIT announcement thread on December 30, 2025: “The token is allocated between the ecosystem (50%) and team/investors (50%). Points seasons 1 and 2 that ran in 2025 have yielded 12.5M points that will be immediately airdropped, equating to 25% of the fully diluted value.” (official post).
| Bucket | Share of supply | LIT | What Lighter said |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 1 + 2 airdrop | 25% | 250M | Airdropped immediately to 12.5M points |
| Ecosystem reserve | 25% | 250M | “Future points seasons and, to a lesser degree, partnerships and growth initiatives”; since mid-2026 also funds staking rewards |
| Team | 26% | 260M | 1-year lock, then 3-year linear vesting |
| Investors | 24% | 240M | 1-year lock, then 3-year linear vesting |
Source: @Lighter_xyz, December 30, 2025. LIT amounts are the shares applied to the 1B supply CoinGecko lists. Ecosystem 50% = airdrop 25% + reserve 25%.
Two things follow. First, the airdrop was large: a quarter of all LIT went to users on day one, and CoinGecko shows exactly that 250M in circulation today, because the team and investor tokens are still in their 1-year lock. Second, the 25% reserve is where any future points season would be paid from. Lighter’s tokenomics update of June 30, 2026 said 250M LIT of ecosystem tokens remained and started using them for staking rewards, so that reserve is now shared between stakers and any new season.
2. Lighter airdrop calculator: points to LIT
If you held Season 1 or Season 2 points, this converts them at the average rate implied by Lighter’s own numbers (250M LIT ÷ 12.5M points = 20 LIT per point) and values the LIT at a price you choose. It is a historical check, not a forecast for any future season.
Defaults: 20 LIT per point (average implied by Lighter’s December 30, 2025 figures; Lighter did not publish a per-point rate), $3.21 LIT price (CoinGecko, October 14, 2026) and a 6% staking APR. Actual allocations could differ if Lighter excluded or adjusted accounts.
3. Is there a Lighter Season 3?
No Season 3 has been announced as of October 14, 2026. We checked Lighter’s X account for any post about a new season since January 2026 (most recent post read: October 12, 2026), the docs’ Points Program section and the app: nothing announces one, and app.lighter.xyz/points still returns a 404. What Lighter has said on the record:
- December 30, 2025: the remaining 25% of the ecosystem allocation “will be used for future points seasons and, to a lesser degree, partnerships and growth initiatives”.
- June 30, 2026: one of four treasury priorities is to “preserve tokens for potential future partnerships, points seasons, and other growth initiatives”, while the same reserve now pays a 6% staking yield.
- August 13, 2026: “Robinhood Wallet × Lighter — Points Are Live”, which is a points program for the Robinhood Chain deployment, not a Season 3 of the main exchange.
So a future season is an intention with no date, size or rules. Airdrop sites that list “Lighter Season 3 tasks” are guessing. If Lighter announces one, it will be on @Lighter_xyz and in the docs, and we will update this page.
4. Lighter points status today
| Item | What the official source shows (October 14, 2026) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | Ended with the final Private Beta distribution on September 30, 2025 | docs: Points Program |
| Season 2 | “Points Season 2 ended on December 26th 2025” | docs: Market Makers page |
| Retail points page | Still describes 200,000 points a week on Fridays (not updated) | docs: Retail |
| Points in the app | No Points menu; app.lighter.xyz/points shows “ERROR 404 Page not found” | app, logged out |
| Leaderboard | Main app: ranked by PnL, no points column. Robinhood Chain app: a points leaderboard | app /leaderboard |
| LIT token | $3.21, market cap $802.5M, 250M of 1B circulating | CoinGecko |
| LIT staking | APR 6%, 113.76M LIT staked, unstaking locked for 3 days | app /staking, docs LIT Utility |
| Robinhood Chain deployment | Own points program: real-time points plus a weekly drop every Friday since August 21, 2026 | docs: Lighter on Robinhood Chain Points |
Two of Lighter’s own docs pages disagree: the retail points page still reads as if Season 2 were live, while the market-maker page opens with the end date. We give more weight to the dated statement, to the app (which removed the Points menu) and to the airdrop itself, which paid out Season 2.
5. How Season 1 and Season 2 points were earned
Season 1 ran through Lighter’s private beta and ended with the final distribution on September 30, 2025. Season 2 followed with points every Friday: 200,000 a week for retail traders, covering activity from Wednesday through Tuesday, and 50,000 for market makers on Premium accounts, scored on maker volume and on how much tight liquidity they quoted. Lighter’s liquidity pool (LLP) was scored like a market maker, but its points were redistributed so the weekly total stayed at 250,000. Season 2 ended on December 26, 2025, four days before the token launch.
For retail traders the docs listed categories and rules, not a formula:
- Categories: volume, open interest, funding, liquidations and deleverages, and PnL, with “scaling factors that favor traders with higher trading quality”.
- Premium weighting: “Having a premium account impacts the weight of the metrics”; PnL from Premium accounts “may receive more points”.
- Non-linear: 2× the volume “may result in 3× or 1.5× the points”, and the same applies to other metrics.
- Market weights: “$100 in volume on BTC does not yield the same number of points as $100 in volume on HYPE.”
- No reward for losing: “Intentionally losing money or getting liquidated will not be beneficial.”
The overall principle on the main points page: “Earn points by running organic trading strategies via UI and API. Sybil, self-trading, and similar activities will not earn points.” Lighter scored trading that looked like real trading (positions held, funding paid and received, profit), not raw churn. That is worth remembering if a Season 3 ever comes.
6. The LIT token today: staking, buybacks and burns
LIT is the “Lighter Infrastructure Token”. On October 14, 2026 CoinGecko showed $3.21, a $802.5M market cap and 250M LIT circulating of a 1B total supply, with an all-time high of $7.86 on launch day and a low of $0.78 in March 2026. What LIT does, according to the docs and the app’s staking page:

| Utility | Requirement | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Staking rewards | Any amount staked | “Fixed 6% APR”, paid in LIT |
| LLP access | 1+ LIT staked | Deposit up to 10 USDC into the LLP per staked LIT |
| Premium fee discounts | 1,000+ LIT | 2.5% off at 1,000 LIT up to 30% off at 500,000 LIT |
| LIT Fee Credits | Pay LIT up front | Rent a higher fee tier for a chosen period instead of staking |
The staking page showed 113.76M LIT staked on October 14, 2026, about 46% of the circulating supply. Unstaked LIT stays locked for 3 days.
The mid-2026 tokenomics update and the first burn
None of the airdrop trackers ranking for “lighter airdrop” mention this, but it changes the supply picture. In its Tokenomics Update of June 30, 2026, Lighter said:
- Buybacks become burns. The protocol had bought back about 15.5M LIT “using exchange revenues”, and “buybacks will be used to permanently reduce the LIT supply through burns”.
- Staking is now paid from ecosystem tokens. About 3.72M LIT had gone to stakers so far; from then on Lighter targets a 6% annual yield funded from the 250M ecosystem tokens left, “subject to adjustment at the team’s discretion”.
On July 10, 2026 Lighter burned 15,638,702 LIT, about 6.3% of the circulating supply, with the Etherscan transaction linked in the post. A second burn followed on October 12, 2026: 2,452,017 LIT, “the amount of tokens programmatically bought back through the end of Q3 2026”, again with the Etherscan transaction in the post. By September 7, 2026 Lighter said it had bought back 17.5M LIT since TGE. CoinGecko still lists a 1B total supply, so check the burn address on Etherscan rather than aggregator totals.
Is staking worth it for the fee discount alone? Usually not for retail. At $3.21, 1,000 LIT costs about $3,210 and buys a 2.5% discount on Premium fees, which saves $0.07 on a $10,000 taker order. The 6% APR (about $193 a year on that stake, paid in LIT) matters more, and both depend on LIT’s price. The Lighter LLP and staking guide covers the LLP side.
7. Where to buy LIT
- On Lighter itself. LIT trades on Lighter’s LIT/USDC spot market, so a Lighter account is enough: deposit USDC, open Spot, buy LIT, and stake it from the Staking page if you want the yield or fee tier.
- On a centralized exchange. CoinGecko listed 38 markets for LIT on September 27, 2026 (Lighter’s own spot market among them), including Coinbase Exchange, Kraken, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin, Gate, MEXC and Upbit, plus Uniswap on Ethereum and Robinhood Chain.
- Check the contract. On Ethereum, LIT is 0x232ce3bd40fcd6f80f3d55a522d03f25df784ee2; on Robinhood Chain, 0xeeca2e7dc194a320d349122d88259bb9595a4cb0 (both as listed by CoinGecko). Any other “LIT” token is not Lighter’s.

8. Lighter on Robinhood Chain points: farming strategy (live)
Lighter runs a separate deployment on Robinhood Chain with its own points program. The docs say points “are calculated and awarded in real time based on eligible activity, with an additional weekly points drop at the end of each program period, every Friday (first weekly drop on Fri Aug 21)”. The terms took effect on August 10, 2026. On August 13, 2026 Lighter posted “Robinhood Wallet × Lighter — Points Are Live … Earn points in real time. Refer your friends to earn an additional points boost.” The Leaderboard on the Robinhood Chain app is a points leaderboard.
There is no published formula, and no token or conversion is promised. One multiplier is on record: on September 22, 2026 Robinhood’s official crypto account posted that “eligible users trading perpetuals on Lighter in Robinhood Wallet now have the chance to earn double Lighter points”. Neither that post nor Lighter’s docs say who is eligible or when it ends. Some airdrop sites also quote a specific LIT reward pool for this program; we found no such figure in Lighter’s docs or posts or in that Robinhood post, so we do not repeat one. Premium on that deployment costs 0.035% taker and 0.012% maker, Standard 0%.
The terms list what earns nothing: wash trading, self-trading or trading between commonly controlled accounts, operating multiple accounts or splitting activity to earn more points, buying or renting accounts, self-referrals and circular referral schemes, bots used to manipulate program metrics, and exploiting bugs. Points can be reversed even after the program ends. The program and perps on that deployment are closed to residents of Belarus, Canada, China, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Singapore, South Sudan, Sudan, Switzerland, Syria, Ukraine, the UAE, the UK, the US and Venezuela. Do not use a VPN to get around this.
A Robinhood Chain points farming strategy that respects the rules
Lighter publishes no formula for these points, so any “strategy” is a reading of what it has said, not a guarantee. What it has said, with dates:
- Points are “calculated and awarded in real time based on eligible activity”, plus a weekly drop every Friday. Activity that the terms do not exclude is the only lever.
- Pre-IPO perps were flagged by Lighter itself. Listing SHEIN (Pre-IPO) perps on August 28, 2026, Lighter wrote: “Pre-IPO trading may be relevant to points participants on RHC 👀”; that post said SHEIN trades “across Lighter (Core and Robinhood Chain)”. Later Pre-IPO listings did not always name the deployment, so check the Robinhood Chain app for the market before you trade it for points. Pre-IPO markets are new, thin and leverage-capped, so size positions for the market, not for the points.
- Robinhood Wallet users can earn double points. Robinhood’s crypto account announced it on September 22, 2026 for “eligible users trading perpetuals on Lighter in Robinhood Wallet”. Eligibility and end date are not published, so check the in-wallet terms before you route trades through it.
- Referrals boost the referrer. The launch post said “Refer your friends to earn an additional points boost”; self-referral and circular referral schemes are excluded.
- Standard is free, Premium is not. Standard taker trades on the Robinhood Chain deployment cost 0%; Premium costs 0.035% taker. Lighter has not said whether Premium earns more points there, so paying Premium fees only for points is a bet on an unpublished rule.
- One person, one account. The terms exclude multiple accounts, split activity, rented accounts and trading between accounts you control, and points can be reversed after the program ends.
Before you start, check the restricted-regions list above: residents of the US, UK, Canada, Singapore and the other listed countries cannot take part.
9. How to maximize Lighter points
“How to maximize Lighter points” has an honest answer only in terms of what Lighter’s own rules rewarded and punished. Across Season 2 and the Robinhood Chain program, that comes down to six rules:
- Trade like a trader, not a volume bot. Season 2 scored volume, open interest, funding, liquidations and PnL non-linearly, with “scaling factors that favor traders with higher trading quality”. Twice the volume could earn 1.5× the points.
- Use the one announced multiplier. Eligible users trading Lighter perps inside Robinhood Wallet can earn double points (announced by Robinhood on September 22, 2026); no other multiplier has been published.
- Hold positions. Open interest and funding were scored categories; churning in and out builds volume but not the other metrics.
- Pick markets deliberately. “$100 in volume on BTC does not yield the same number of points as $100 in volume on HYPE”, and Lighter has pointed Robinhood Chain participants at Pre-IPO perps.
- Keep costs near zero. Standard accounts pay 0% taker, so your real cost is spread and slippage (see section 12). Join with
718610TDand your first Premium week is rebated if you test Premium. - Never split or wash. Self-trading earns nothing, sybil detection runs with undisclosed metrics, and the Robinhood Chain terms let Lighter reverse points.
Delta-neutral points farming across venues
A common plan is to hold a long on one perp DEX and an equal short on another, so price moves cancel out while both venues count the positions. It is not free: you pay fees and spread on both legs, funding can run against one side for weeks, a sharp move can liquidate one leg before you rebalance, and Lighter’s rules already treat trading between accounts you control as ineligible. Lighter’s Season 2 page also said intentionally losing money “will not be beneficial”. Which venues are worth pairing, and what points each one runs today, is in our perp DEX airdrops ranking.
10. Claim, checkers and scams
“Lighter airdrop claim” and “Lighter airdrop checker” are popular searches, which is exactly why scammers target them. What we know:
- Lighter said the Season 1 and 2 points “will be immediately airdropped”. We found no official claim page, no eligibility checker and no deadline.
- If you earned points, check the LIT balance of the Lighter account you traded from (Portfolio in the app, logged in with the same wallet or email).
- Any site asking you to connect a wallet and “sign to claim” LIT, approve a token or enter a seed phrase is a phishing attempt. Lighter’s official links are lighter.xyz, app.lighter.xyz, docs.lighter.xyz and @Lighter_xyz on X.
- Verify the token contract before you buy or add it to a wallet (Ethereum 0x232ce3bd40fcd6f80f3d55a522d03f25df784ee2).
Our DEX security checklist covers wallet approvals and phishing in more depth.
11. Sybil, self-trading and referral rules
- Multiple accounts. Season 2 tolerated “up to 10 accounts per user without penalty” for risk management, while running automated and semi-automated sybil detection with undisclosed metrics. The Robinhood Chain terms exclude multi-account farming entirely.
- Self-trading. Lighter’s matching engine blocks trades between the same account, and self-trading earns no points.
- Referrals. Referrers earn 10% (Bronze) or 20% (Silver) of their referees’ gross fees on Premium and on advanced order types on Standard, and referees get their first Premium week rebated. The app advertises up to 30% but publishes no requirement for it. “Wash trading, self-referrals, and any other attempts to abuse or game the program will result in disqualification.” Codes are permanent once used at sign-up.

12. What farming costs on a zero-fee exchange
On most exchanges farming cost is the trading fee. On Lighter’s default Standard account the fee is 0% maker and 0% taker, so the cost moves elsewhere:
- Spread and slippage. A round trip crosses the spread twice. It is tight on BTC and ETH and many times wider on thin alts; our Lighter markets list shows where the volume is.
- Latency. Standard taker orders and cancels wait 300 ms; maker orders are not delayed. The delay on taking and cancelling is a cost in fast markets.
- Premium fees if you switch. Season 2 weighted Premium activity more. Premium costs 0.028% taker and 0.004% maker at 0 staked LIT:
| Staked LIT | Discount | Maker | Taker | Taker fee on $10,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | — | 0.0040% | 0.0280% | $2.80 |
| 1,000 | 2.5% | 0.0039% | 0.0273% | $2.73 |
| 10,000 | 10% | 0.0036% | 0.0252% | $2.52 |
| 100,000 | 20% | 0.0032% | 0.0224% | $2.24 |
| 500,000 | 30% | 0.0028% | 0.0196% | $1.96 |
Source: docs.lighter.xyz Trading Fees (intermediate tiers: 3,000 LIT 5%, 30,000 LIT 15%, 300,000 LIT 25%). Premium taker latency is 140 ms.
A worked example. $1M of taker volume a week on Premium at 0 LIT costs $280 a week, $14,560 a year. With code 718610TD, the first week is rebated (up to $10M of volume), so the first $280 comes back. On Standard, the same $1M costs $0 in fees plus spread. With no points program on the main exchange, every dollar of Premium fee should be justified by the speed you need, not by points. The Lighter fees guide compares the account types.
Try Premium for a week, rebated
Join with 718610TD: your first week of Premium fees comes back in USDC, on up to $10M of volume.
13. What to do now
- Trade on Standard unless you need speed. Zero fees, and a normal trading record is the only thing any past Lighter program rewarded.
- Hold positions rather than churning. Season 2 counted open interest, funding and PnL, and Lighter’s rules punish self-trading.
- Treat LIT staking as an investment. 6% APR paid in LIT, an unstaking lockup of 3 days, and fee discounts that matter only at large Premium volume.
- Outside the restricted regions, the Robinhood Chain program is the one live points program. Read its terms first: one person, one account, no referral loops.
- Watch the official sources only. The docs’ Points Program section, app.lighter.xyz, Lighter’s Discord and X. Ignore “eligibility checkers”.
14. What is Lighter, and is it safe?
What it is. Lighter is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange with an order book, where matching and liquidations are proven with zero-knowledge proofs and settled on Ethereum. You trade from your own wallet; there is no account in your name at a company. Its public mainnet opened on October 1, 2025, and Fortune reported a $68M round at about a $1.5B valuation in November 2025. LIT is its token.
Is it safe? Safer than an anonymous farm, not risk-free. Lighter’s docs list 9 audit reports for its contracts and circuits, and the interface is operated by Elliot Technologies, Inc. under the law of Florida (US). The real risks: bugs in young ZK and contract code, liquidation at high leverage (BTC up to 50x), LLP drawdowns, and phishing around the airdrop. Our Lighter review goes through them, and Hyperliquid vs Lighter compares it with the largest perp DEX.
15. Lighter vs Hyperliquid vs Aster rewards
| Lighter | Hyperliquid | Aster | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Points today | None on the main exchange; Robinhood Chain points live | None (program ended in 2024) | Stardust dashboard paused; fixed-pool campaigns live |
| Token | LIT (1B supply) | HYPE | ASTER (8B max) |
| Airdrop on record | 250M LIT (25%) for 12.5M points, December 30, 2025 | 270.9M HYPE to 94,019 addresses, November 2024 | 53.5% of supply allocated to airdrops |
| Token staking | 6% APR; unstaking lockup 3 days | Staking with fee discounts; unstaking queue 7 days | ASTER staking programs |
| Base taker / maker fee | 0% / 0% (Standard) | 0.045% / 0.015% | 0.04% / 0% |
For the tokens themselves (market cap against revenue, buybacks, staking yield), see HYPE vs ASTER vs LIT. Prize contests are a separate reward stream, run by the venues for short windows and usually scored by volume or realized PnL.
If you want the deepest on-chain order books rather than a speculative reward, Hyperliquid with code HOLYGRAIL gives 4% off fees on your first $25M of volume (Hyperliquid airdrop history). Aster’s current campaigns are in the Aster points guide. To compare venues, see the best DEX guide; new to this, read what a DEX is.
16. FAQ
When was the Lighter airdrop?
On December 30, 2025. Lighter announced the LIT token that day and said the 12.5M points from Seasons 1 and 2 "will be immediately airdropped, equating to 25% of the fully diluted value". Season 2 had ended on December 26, 2025. CoinGecko's LIT price history also starts on December 30, 2025.
How much LIT did Lighter airdrop per point?
Lighter airdropped 25% of the 1B LIT supply, which is 250M LIT, for 12.5M points. That works out to an average of 20 LIT per point. Lighter did not publish a per-point rate itself; 20 is our arithmetic from its own figures. At $3.21 (CoinGecko, October 14, 2026) the whole drop would be worth about $802.5M.
Is there a Lighter Season 3?
Not announced as of October 14, 2026. We found no Season 3 post on Lighter's X account (posts read through October 12, 2026) or in the docs, and app.lighter.xyz/points returns a 404. Lighter has said the remaining 25% of the ecosystem allocation is for "future points seasons" and partnerships, and its June 30, 2026 tokenomics update listed "potential future ... points seasons" among its priorities. That is a stated intention, not a date.
How do I claim or check my Lighter airdrop?
Lighter's announcement said the points "will be immediately airdropped", and we found no official claim page or eligibility checker. If you traded in Seasons 1 or 2, look at the LIT balance of the Lighter account you traded from. Treat any "Lighter airdrop claim" or "checker" site that asks you to connect a wallet and sign as a likely phishing attempt. The LIT contract on Ethereum listed by CoinGecko is 0x232ce3bd40fcd6f80f3d55a522d03f25df784ee2.
Is the Lighter points program still running?
Not on the main exchange. The docs say Season 2 ended on December 26, 2025, the app has no Points menu, and app.lighter.xyz/points returns a 404 (checked October 14, 2026). The one live program is Lighter on Robinhood Chain, whose terms took effect on August 10, 2026, with real-time points and a weekly drop every Friday since August 21, 2026.
What is Lighter in crypto?
Lighter is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange: an order-book DEX where you trade crypto perps (and some spot and RWA markets) from your own wallet, with matching and liquidations proven by zero-knowledge proofs. Its public mainnet opened on October 1, 2025. LIT, the Lighter Infrastructure Token, is its token, used for staking, fee discounts and access to the LLP liquidity pool.
Is Lighter DEX safe?
No exchange is risk-free. On the plus side, Lighter is self-custodial (you connect a wallet instead of handing funds to a company account), its docs list 9 audit reports, and its operator, named in the Terms of Service, is Elliot Technologies, Inc. The risks are the usual ones for a young DEX: smart-contract and prover bugs, liquidation and liquidity risk, and phishing. Our Lighter review covers the details.
Where can I buy LIT?
CoinGecko listed 38 markets for LIT on September 27, 2026: Lighter's own LIT/USDC spot market plus exchanges including Coinbase Exchange, Kraken, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin, Gate and Uniswap. No Japanese registered exchange lists it. Buy only through the official Lighter app or a major exchange, never through a token link sent in a DM.
Are Lighter airdrops free?
No. There were no free tasks: Lighter's points were earned by trading (volume, open interest, funding, PnL) or market making with real money, and trading carries risk of loss. The Robinhood Chain program works the same way. Anyone promising a free Lighter airdrop for signing a message is running a scam.
Does the Lighter referral code help with points?
The referral program is about fees, not points. With code 718610TD your first week of Premium is free: the trading fees you pay during that week are rebated in USDC, on up to $10M of volume. Referrers earn 10%–20% of their referees' gross fees on Premium and on advanced order types on Standard; the app says up to 30% but publishes no requirement for it. Codes must be used at sign-up, and self-referrals lead to disqualification.
Start on Lighter with 718610TD
Zero fees on the Standard account; first Premium week rebated with code 718610TD.
