Hyperliquid Builder Fee Checker: Approved Apps, Fee Caps and Your Referral Code

↓ Result

Every wallet, app or bot that trades on Hyperliquid for you can add a builder fee to your orders, up to the cap you signed when you first used it. Paste a wallet address to see which apps hold an approval, the cap of each (Hyperliquid allows up to 0.1% on perps), what that costs per $10,000 traded, and whether the account already carries a referral code. Read-only: no wallet connection, no signature, and the address goes only from your browser to Hyperliquid's public API.

🔒 Sent only to api.hyperliquid.xyz from your browser. Never put in the URL, stored, logged or sent to analytics. Never paste a private key or seed phrase.

Used for the per-month column. This one is kept in the link; the address never is.

No referral code yet? Add HOLYGRAIL before your first app

Code HOLYGRAIL takes 4% off your Hyperliquid fees on the first $25M of volume, also on Hyperliquid’s part of orders you place through apps that trade from the same account. It can only be added while the account has traded less than $10,000, and apps such as Phantom often set their own Hyperliquid referral code on accounts that have none, so join first, then connect the app.

Trading on a phone? These apps’ own codes cut their builder fee or pay us at no cost to you: Liquid (JV2EN2CX, −10% off its fee), Based (HOLYGRAIL) and fomo (DailyWiseKite, −10%; fomo creates its own account, so its code is the only one that applies there).

Disclosure: we earn a commission when you sign up through our links; it never raises your fees.

Published perp builder fees from each app’s fee page (MetaMask publishes only an all-in fee; pvp.trade’s falls with its levels). Per $10,000 is the builder fee on $10,000 of fills, added to Hyperliquid’s own 0.045% taker fee at tier 0. Builder addresses are labels from DefiLlama’s open-source adapters, checked on Hyperliquid’s API on October 6, 2026.

1. How the checker works

Hyperliquid keeps builder approvals on-chain and answers questions about any account through its public info API. When you press Check, your browser sends these requests to https://api.hyperliquid.xyz/info and nowhere else:

  • approvedBuilders: every builder address the account has approved (at most 10 can be active).
  • maxBuilderFee for each of them: the cap you signed, in tenths of a basis point, so 1 = 0.001% and the perp maximum 0.1% = 100.
  • referral: whether the account was referred, with which code, and its cumulative volume.
  • extraAgents: the named API (agent) wallets that can trade for the account.
  • userRole, only when everything above comes back empty: tells a new address from an API wallet, a vault or a sub-account.

The checker then puts a name on each builder address it recognises (Based, Liquid, fomo, Phantom, Hyperdash, Dexari, OneKey, pvp.trade, MetaMask, Axiom, Insilico Terminal, Trust Wallet, Rabby, Invo, Blockchain.com Wallet) and multiplies the cap by $10,000 and by your monthly volume. An approval is the ceiling: the app sets the actual fee on each order and may stay below it, so the dollar figures are the most you can pay through that app, not a bill.

2. Reading the result

  • Apps approved. Each one can add a fee to orders it sends for you. Approvals stay until you remove them, even after you stop using the app.
  • Highest cap. The most expensive approval. Builder fees are charged on both sides of perp trades; on spot only the selling side, so a round trip pays it twice.
  • ⚠ above the published fee. The cap you signed is higher than the fee the app publishes. That is legal (the app may raise its fee up to your cap without asking again), but worth a look: re-approving at the published rate, or removing the app, closes the gap.
  • Unlabelled builder. An address we cannot match to an app. If you do not recognise it, remove it.
  • No approvals. Then no app can add a builder fee: you trade on the official app (no builder fee) or through apps that use their own account, such as fomo.

For the full fee on each route (Hyperliquid’s fee plus the builder fee, with or without a referral code and staking), use the Hyperliquid fee calculator.

3. How to remove an approval (official steps)

  1. Open app.hyperliquid.xyz/builderCodes and connect the same wallet you checked (the main wallet; an API wallet cannot do this).
  2. The page “Builder Code Approvals” lists each approved builder address. Compare it with the addresses in the checker’s table.
  3. Press Remove next to the builder and sign: the Remove button re-signs ApproveBuilderFee with a fee of 0. It is a signature, not a transaction: no gas, no funds moved, no positions closed.
  4. Press Check again here: the app is gone from the list.

Developers can send the same action themselves: approveBuilderFee for that builder with maxFeeRate "0%". If you use the app again later, it will ask for a new approval. More on approvals and what they can and cannot do: Hyperliquid builder codes explained.

4. Builder fees and your referral code

A builder fee and a referral code are separate: the app adds its builder fee, and a Hyperliquid referral code takes 4% off Hyperliquid’s own part of the fee on the first $25M of volume. the referral discount also applies to orders placed through apps with a builder code (checked on mainnet fills on October 1, 2026). What decides whether you get the discount is the code on the account, which the checker reads:

How we know: our mainnet study of referral codes through apps (October 6, 2026) publishes the method, per-app results and an aggregate CSV.

  • No code, under $10,000 of volume: you can still add one. Join through app.hyperliquid.xyz/join/HOLYGRAIL before you use an app, because apps such as Phantom often set their own Hyperliquid referral code on accounts that have none.
  • No code, past $10,000: Hyperliquid no longer accepts one for this account.
  • Another code: it stays; a referral code cannot be changed. If the code belongs to an app the checker recognises (its builder address, or the code it sets on its users’ accounts, such as Liquid’s or fomo’s), the checker names the app.
  • fomo: fomo has no wallet connection (Apple, Google or email only) and creates its own wallet and Hyperliquid account for you, so a Hyperliquid code such as HOLYGRAIL cannot apply there.

5. Privacy: what happens to the address

  • The address is read from the box only when you press Check, sent from your browser to api.hyperliquid.xyz (with no cookies and no referrer), and not kept after the result is drawn.
  • It is never written to the page URL or its #hash (only the monthly volume is, so a copied link carries no address), to cookies, localStorage or any other storage, to the console, or to analytics. The address box has no form name, so it cannot be submitted anywhere.
  • This site is static: there is no server of ours that receives the request. Hyperliquid’s API sees the request like any other API call, as it does when any website or explorer looks up an address.
  • Addresses are public on Hyperliquid, but you can always use the official page instead: app.hyperliquid.xyz/builderCodes shows the same approvals after you connect your wallet.

The official app has no builder fee

On app.hyperliquid.xyz there is no builder fee at all, and HOLYGRAIL takes 4% off your first $25M: 0.0432% taker at tier 0 instead of 0.045%.

FAQ

How do I check my Hyperliquid builder fee approvals?

Paste your wallet address into the checker and press Check. Your browser sends public read-only requests to Hyperliquid's info API (approvedBuilders, maxBuilderFee, referral and extraAgents) and shows every app that may add a builder fee to your orders, with the cap you signed. No wallet connection or signature is needed. The official alternative is app.hyperliquid.xyz/builderCodes, which lists the same approvals after you connect the wallet.

What does the approved cap mean?

It is the most that builder may add to any order it sends for you, as a share of the order's notional: maxBuilderFee returns it in tenths of a basis point (1 = 0.001%). The app can charge less on a given order but never more. Hyperliquid itself limits builder fees to 0.1% on perps and 1% on spot.

How do I remove (revoke) a builder fee approval?

Open app.hyperliquid.xyz/builderCodes with the same wallet and press Remove next to the builder; the Remove button re-signs ApproveBuilderFee with a fee of 0. It costs no gas, moves no funds and closes no positions; the app simply cannot add a fee to your orders any more, and the approval slot (you can hold 10) is freed. Developers can sign approveBuilderFee with maxFeeRate "0%" themselves.

Is it safe to paste my address here?

A wallet address is public on Hyperliquid: anyone can query its approvals, positions and fills. The checker only reads, needs no wallet connection, and sends the address from your browser straight to api.hyperliquid.xyz. We do not put it in the URL, store it, log it or send it to analytics, and the page has no server of its own that could receive it. Never paste a private key or seed phrase anywhere; this tool never asks for one.

Can I still add a referral code to my Hyperliquid account?

Only if the account has no code yet and has traded less than $10,000: Hyperliquid's Referrals page rejects a code after that, and a code that is set cannot be changed. The checker reads both from the referral endpoint. Joining through a link such as app.hyperliquid.xyz/join/HOLYGRAIL takes 4% off your fees on the first $25M of volume, and the referral discount also applies to orders placed through apps with a builder code.

Why does the checker show an "unlabelled builder"?

Apps do not publish their builder addresses. We label the 15 we could match from DefiLlama's open-source fee adapters and confirm on Hyperliquid's API (each owns an active builder balance, and most own a referral code named after the app). Any other approved address is shown as unlabelled rather than guessed; if you do not recognise it, remove it on app.hyperliquid.xyz/builderCodes.

What are the named API wallets in the result?

Apps such as trading terminals and bots ask you to approve an API (agent) wallet that can place orders for your account but cannot withdraw. Hyperliquid allows 3 named agents per account (plus one unnamed). If you stopped using an app, revoke its agent on app.hyperliquid.xyz/API.

Disclosure: HOLYGRAIL (Hyperliquid and Based), JV2EN2CX (Liquid) and DailyWiseKite (fomo) are our referral codes; we earn a share of referred accounts’ fees at no extra cost to you. We hold no code for the other apps listed. The checker reads Hyperliquid’s public API and shows what it returns at that moment; app labels are our matching, not the apps’ statements. Not financial advice.
