Hyperliquid HYPE staking guide 2026

In brief. Rewards are paid daily with no claiming, and nothing is guaranteed: the rate falls as more HYPE is staked and a 2–3% HYPE price move outweighs a year of rewards. Risks are the HYPE price, validator jailing and phishing; there is no automatic slashing. Exchange and ETF staking pay less and never give the fee discount. If you trade on Hyperliquid, more than 100 HYPE staked for the 10% discount is the usual sweet spot.

Stack staking with a referral discount

Staking discounts multiply with the 4% you get from code HOLYGRAIL on your first $25M of volume: Bronze staking plus the code takes the base taker fee from 0.045% to about 0.0389%.

1. Can you stake on Hyperliquid? What staking is

Hyperliquid is a delegated proof-of-stake chain secured by HyperBFT consensus. HYPE holders delegate to validators, validators produce blocks and earn rewards in proportion to their stake, and they pass those rewards on minus a commission. Staking happens inside HyperCore, the same layer as the order books: just as USDC moves between spot and perps, HYPE moves between your spot and staking balances, and from the staking balance you delegate to one or more validators. No bridge, no smart contract, no gas.

Two things set HYPE staking apart. Rewards are re-delegated automatically, so compounding is built in and there is nothing to claim. And staking is wired into the exchange’s fee schedule: the HYPE you have staked sets a fee-discount tier that applies to every perp and spot trade you make on Hyperliquid. The docs set no minimum stake for delegators; the 10,000 HYPE requirement you may read about is a validator’s own self-delegation. The fee discount starts once you have more than 10 HYPE staked.

2. What is the HYPE staking APY right now?

The reward rate is not fixed. The docs describe it as “inversely proportional to the square root of total HYPE staked”, calibrated so that 400M staked pays about 2.37% a year. Rewards come from the future-emissions reserve, not from trading fees.

APR or APY? Exchanges and data sites advertise HYPE staking as an “APY”; the Hyperliquid API reports a predicted APR. Because rewards are re-staked every day, the two differ by only a few hundredths of a point: 2.23% APR compounds to about 2.25% APY.

How the APY changes with total stake

More HYPE staked means a lower rate for everyone. Your validator then takes its commission: your APR ≈ protocol rate × (1 − commission). The table applies the docs’ formula:

Total HYPE stakedProtocol rate (0% commission)3% commission5% commissionRewards on 1,000 HYPE / yr
300M2.74%2.65%2.60%27.7 HYPE
400M2.37%2.30%2.25%24.0 HYPE

500M2.12%2.06%2.01%21.4 HYPE
600M1.94%1.88%1.84%19.5 HYPE
700M1.79%1.74%1.70%18.1 HYPE

Formula: 2.37% × √(400M ÷ total stake), from Hyperliquid’s staking docs; last column compounds daily at the 0% rate. The API’s own estimates run a few hundredths of a point below the formula (today 2.23% vs 2.25% at 0% commission), so treat the formula as a guide and the API as the live number.

Rewards are computed on the minimum balance you had staked during each staking epoch of 100,000 rounds (about 90 minutes on mainnet), so a top-up counts from the next epoch.

Enter how much HYPE you would stake, your validator’s commission and how much you trade. The calculator uses the API rate for a 0%-commission validator (2.23%), daily compounding, the fee tiers below and the HYPE price of October 19, 2026; change the price to test your own assumption.

The same numbers for three common stake sizes, at 2.23% (0% commission) and $250,000 of taker volume a month:

100$7,9722.25 HYPE$180Wood (5%)$68

10,000$797,200225.5 HYPE$17,977Silver (15%)$203

Thresholds are strict: exactly 100 HYPE is still Wood and exactly 1,000 is still Bronze, so 100.01 or 1,000.01 HYPE moves you up a tier. Fee saving = $250,000 × 12 × 0.045% × discount. Dollar values assume a flat HYPE price, which it never is.

The pattern is clear: for an active trader, the fee discount is worth more than the staking reward until the stake gets large. For a holder who never trades, the reward is the whole return, and a 3% HYPE move outweighs it in either direction.

4. Does staking lower my trading fees? (Wood to Diamond)

Yes. HYPE you have staked lowers every perp and spot fee you pay on Hyperliquid by 5–40%, depending on the tier. The discount applies on top of your 14-day volume tier, to maker and taker fees, and multiplies with the 4% referral discount. The last two columns use the HYPE price of October 19, 2026 and assume $1M of taker volume a month at the base tier ($5,400 of fees a year):

Worked example: Bronze staking plus code HOLYGRAIL

A trader doing $1M of perp taker volume a month at the base tier, with just over 100 HYPE staked (Bronze) and the referral code on the account. Both discounts multiply: 0.045% × (1 − 10%) × (1 − 4%).

SetupTaker rateFees on $1M / month

Bronze staking (10%)0.0405%$405.00
Code HOLYGRAIL only (4%)0.0432%$432.00
Bronze + HOLYGRAIL0.0389%$388.80

Rates: Hyperliquid docs trading/fees (tier 0 taker 0.045%, Bronze 10%) and referrals (4% on the first $25M of volume; $1M a month stays inside that cap for two years). The fee formula in the docs applies the referral discount to the rate that already includes the staking discount.

That is 13.6% off the bill, $734.40 a year, for a stake of about $7,972. The staking part needs no sign-up; the referral part has to be on the account before you trade (how the HOLYGRAIL referral code works).

Add the 4% discount: join with HOLYGRAIL →

Hyperliquid Fee Calculator — See what each staking tier saves on your own trading, together with your volume tier and the HOLYGRAIL discount. — Open the calculator →

Read it as a return on capital. Bronze saves $540 a year on a ~$7,972 stake at $1M monthly taker volume: about 6.8% from fees alone, plus the ~2.2% reward. Wood pays off for almost any active trader. Silver and above only make sense if you would hold that much HYPE anyway or trade far more than $1M a month. With the referral code, a Silver staker pays 0.0383% × 0.96 ≈ 0.0367% taker at tier 0, already below the undiscounted tier 1 rate of 0.040%. The whole matrix of volume tiers × staking tiers is in Hyperliquid fees explained.

Two measurement rules. The tier counts HYPE staked (delegated to validators) from the trading address itself or from a permanently linked staking address (section 9); the docs use “stake” and “delegate” interchangeably. And thresholds are strict, as noted above.

5. Do staking discounts stack with a referral code?

Yes, and they multiply rather than add. The staking tier discount and the 4% referral discount are both applied to the same fee, on top of your volume tier, so a staker with a code pays fee × (1 − staking discount) × (1 − 4%). The referral discount covers your first $25M of volume; the staking discount has no cap. At the base tier:

Staking tierHYPE stakedPerp taker, staking onlyTaker with code HOLYGRAILMaker with code

Diamond> 500,0000.0270%0.0259%0.0086%

Base-tier perp rates from Hyperliquid’s fee docs (trading/fees); referral terms from the referrals docs. Volume tiers lower the starting rate further and the same two discounts apply on top.

Two practical rules. The code must be on the trading account, and a referrer can only be set once: join through the link before you trade, or enter the code on the Referrals page while your account has no referrer and no more than $10,000 of volume. And if you plan to trade through an app such as Phantom, Based or Liquid, open the join link, Enable Trading and make your first deposit on app.hyperliquid.xyz before you connect the app, because the code is only registered after that first deposit and apps such as Phantom often set their own Hyperliquid referral code on accounts that have none. Staking itself does not need a code, and the code does not change your staking rewards.

Put both discounts to work

The staking tier applies to every trade automatically. Open your account with code HOLYGRAIL and the 4% referral discount stacks on top for your first $25M of volume: Bronze plus the code is about 0.0389% taker.

6. How do I stake HYPE? (4 steps)

Step 0 is an account; the four staking steps take a couple of minutes and cost no gas.

  1. Have a Hyperliquid account. Any wallet or email login works, and it exists once its first deposit lands. If you do not have one yet, join with code HOLYGRAIL before your first deposit (4% off trading fees, which stacks with the staking discount); the deposit guide covers funding it.
  2. Get HYPE into your HyperCore spot balance. Buy it on the HYPE/USDC spot market (0.070% taker / 0.040% maker at the base tier; spot trading guide) or deposit it (deposit guide).
  3. Open app.hyperliquid.xyz/staking and connect the wallet or email login that holds the HYPE.
  4. Transfer spot → staking balance. Enter the amount and sign. Instant and free.
  5. Choose a validator (section 7) and stake to it. You can split across several. The delegation is locked for 1 day.

That is it. Rewards accrue every minute, arrive daily and are re-staked to the same validator. The staking page has a Staking Reward History tab, and the app’s fee schedule shows the discount for your staked amount.

The most common snag: HYPE on HyperEVM. The staking page only sees HYPE in your HyperCore spot balance. HYPE that sits on HyperEVM (the EVM chain that wallets such as MetaMask show as a network) does not appear there, so the staking balance looks empty. Move it back first: use EVM <-> Core Transfer on the Portfolio page, or send it to 0x2222222222222222222222222222222222222222 (HYPE only; other tokens sent there are lost). When you withdraw HYPE from an exchange, check which network it arrives on.

The docs also list three other sites that stake to the same HyperCore validators: Nansen, ValiDAO and Hypurrscan. They change the interface, not the mechanics or the yield.

Staking from a Ledger or other hardware wallet

Hyperliquid’s own security FAQ recommends a hardware wallet (it names Ledger, Trezor and Keystone) paired with a browser wallet such as Rabby, so the private key never touches the browser. Staking works the same way: connect the browser wallet, and approve each transfer and delegation on the device. Two phishing rules from the same FAQ matter here: never enter a seed phrase on any site (the staking page never asks for one), and beware of sponsored search results. Bookmark app.hyperliquid.xyz and read what you sign; a request to “link staking” to an address you do not own is a way to drain your account (section 9). More in our best wallet for Hyperliquid guide and the DEX security checklist.

7. Best Hyperliquid validators: stake, commission and uptime

There is no official “best validator”. What changes your result is commission (your APR ≈ protocol rate × (1 − commission)) and uptime (a jailed validator pays nothing). On October 20, 2026 the public API listed 35 validators: 27 active, 6 jailed, 442.2M HYPE staked in total. This table is refreshed at every site build; the headline APY and section 2 use the October 19, 2026 reading (27 active, 2.12%–2.23%). The 5 active validators with 1% commission or less and at least 99.9% 30-day uptime were infinitefield.xyz (0%), CMI (0%), HyperStake (0%), Flowdex (0%) and Hypurrscanning (1%).

  • Commission is the only lever on your yield: estimated APRs ran from 2.12% to 2.23% across active validators, with commissions from 0% to 5%. The docs block the classic trap: a validator “cannot increase” its commission unless the new rate is 1% or lower.
  • Uptime matters more than a few basis points. Validators that respond too slowly can be jailed by a quorum of peers and pay nothing while jailed. Check it occasionally; switching is instant after the 1-day lock and does not go through the 7-day queue.
  • Concentration. The five Hyper Foundation validators held 47.1% of all stake on October 20, 2026. The protocol needs more than two-thirds of stake to be honest, so delegating to a smaller, reliable validator helps the network at no cost to your yield.
  • Self-stake. Every validator must self-delegate 10,000 HYPE, locked for a year; below that it enters undelegate-only mode and accepts no new stake.
  • Extras. Some validators advertise partner points or perks. Those are third-party promises outside the protocol; judge uptime and commission first.

8. How long does it take to unstake HYPE?

UndelegateInstantBack in the staking balance; rewards stop
Staking → spot balanceExactly 7 daysUnstaking queue; at most 5 pending per address; cannot be sped up
Switch validatorsInstant after the 1-day lockUndelegate and re-delegate inside the staking balance, no 7-day wait

The docs’ example: a staking-to-spot transfer of 100 HYPE started at 08:00:00 UTC on March 11 finalizes at 08:00:01 UTC on March 18. The support FAQ adds the step people miss: undelegating and transferring to spot are two separate actions, and the 7 days start only when you initiate the transfer. HYPE in the queue earns nothing and cannot be traded, so keep what you may need within a week in spot. Getting the HYPE off Hyperliquid afterwards is covered in how to withdraw from Hyperliquid.

The queue is also public. Because it is on-chain, explorers such as HypurrScan show pending unstaking transfers and when they finalize, which is how large holders’ unstakes become news a week before the HYPE reaches their spot balance.

9. Can I stake from a cold wallet and trade from another? (staking linking)

If you keep HYPE in a cold wallet and trade from another address, you can link them so the cold wallet’s stake sets the trading address’s fee tier. The trading user sends the first action, then the staking user finalizes it under Link Staking on the Portfolio page. The docs’ fine print is severe:

  • Linking is permanent. Unlinking is not supported.
  • The staking user can move all funds out of the trading user in one irreversible transaction, and can even lock the trading user (funds move to the staking user after a year). Link only two addresses you control.
  • The staking user loses its own discount once linked.
  • Not needed if you stake and trade from the same address.

Sub-accounts share the master’s volume tier; if you trade through sub-accounts or an API wallet, check the fee schedule (or the API’s userFees response, which includes activeStakingDiscount) after staking rather than assuming.

10. Is exchange or ETF staking the same as native staking?

Search for “Hyperliquid staking” and much of the first page is someone offering to stake HYPE for you: centralized exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken, Bitget), institutional custodians (Anchorage) and exchange-traded products (Grayscale’s HYPG and 21shares’ THYP in the US, the 21shares Hyperliquid Staking ETP in Europe). They all end up delegating to the same HyperCore validators, but the terms differ:

RouteWho holds the HYPEWhat you earnHyperliquid fee discountExit

Institutional custody (e.g. Anchorage)Qualified custodianValidator rate minus commission (Anchorage By Figment: 5% on October 19, 2026)NoCustodian terms

Sources: 21shares product pages (THYP read September 26, 2026; ETP product fee re-read October 19, 2026), Hyperliquid API validatorSummaries (October 19, 2026). Exchange rates change often and depend on region: Kraken’s HYPE staking page said HYPE staking “is not available on Kraken” when we opened it from Japan.

A custodial route can make sense for a brokerage or retirement account, or if you never want to touch a wallet. For anyone who trades on Hyperliquid it is strictly worse: you give up part of the reward, and the fee discount follows HYPE staked from your trading address, so no exchange or fund can pass it on. Native staking also has no product fee.

11. Staking HYPE vs liquid staking (kHYPE, stHYPE)

Liquid staking tokens (LSTs) on HyperEVM stake HYPE for you and hand you a token you can trade or use as DeFi collateral. They delegate to the same HyperCore validators, so the underlying reward is the same native rate minus the protocol’s cut; anything on top comes from extra strategies with their own risks (DeFi use, or stHYPE’s stake for HIP-3 deployers), not from plain staking. The two largest documented ones next to native staking:

Extra risksHYPE price, jailingSmart contracts, token trading below HYPE valueSmart contracts, deployer-stake slashing risk, slow exits in a large unwind

Sources: kinetiq.xyz/docs/khype and docs.valantis.xyz (stHYPE, stake accounts, Prime fees), re-read October 19, 2026. On September 25 the Valantis docs listed a 10% protocol fee on rewards; the current pages no longer state one, so check the app before you stake.

Risks the protocols themselves list: smart-contract risk (audits reduce it, never to zero), validator risk, liquidity risk when selling (the token can trade below its HYPE value), and protocol and governance risk. stHYPE’s docs add that part of its stake supports HIP-3 deployers, which carries deployer slashing risk, and that in a large unwind withdrawals can wait for that stake to be recalled, over 30–183 days. That deployer stake is also how stHYPE tries to earn more than the native rate, so any extra yield comes with that slashing risk. None of these tokens guarantees a yield; outside such strategies their rate follows the native staking rate, minus fees.

On the fee discount: it follows HYPE staked by your trading address, and an LST protocol stakes from its own addresses. Valantis works around that with a Prime smart account that you own and trade through its interface or API wallets; the app at app.hyperliquid.xyz cannot import API wallets, so you would trade elsewhere. For most traders, native staking is the simpler way to get the discount, and the 7-day queue is the price of it.

12. Can I lose money staking HYPE? Risks and myths

  • Price risk dwarfs the yield: a 2–3% HYPE move equals a year of rewards.
  • No automatic slashing today; slashing is reserved for provable misbehaviour such as double-signing. Delegate to validators you trust: consensus assumes more than two-thirds of stake is honest.
  • Jailing: no rewards while your validator is jailed. Check uptime occasionally and switch if needed (no 7-day wait to switch).
  • Liquidity: 7 days to exit to spot, up to 8 with a fresh delegation.
  • Phishing and linking: fake staking sites and malicious “link staking” requests are the realistic way to lose staked HYPE. The protocol never asks for your seed phrase.
  • No staking referral program: the “staking referral” idea in the docs is a proposal, not live. Hyperliquid runs no points program for stakers and has announced no airdrop for staking (validators’ partner perks are separate, see section 7). What the 2024 points program paid is in our Hyperliquid airdrop guide.

13. How does staking compare with Earn and HLP?

Earn rates: Hyperliquid API allBorrowLendReserveStates (October 19, 2026). Per the docs, supplied USDC and USDT earn the interest borrowers pay (the stablecoin borrow rate is 5% while utilization is under 80%) and the protocol keeps 10%; supplied HYPE and BTC are collateral and earn nothing.

Earn is Hyperliquid’s answer to “can I stake USDC?”: it is lending, not staking, and supplying HYPE there earns nothing and gives no discount. More yield options across DEXs are compared in best DEX passive income; the token itself is covered in the HYPE token guide.

14. How are HYPE staking rewards taxed?

Rewards arrive as HYPE every day, and most tax systems care about that. The IRS lists staking rewards among digital-asset income reported on Schedule 1. Japan’s National Tax Agency treats crypto received from staking as income valued at its market price when received, with related costs deductible. Selling or swapping the HYPE later is a separate event, and swapping HYPE for an LST may itself count as a disposal in some countries. Keep the daily reward history (the DEX tax reporting guide covers record-keeping), and ask a tax professional; this is not tax advice.

15. Should you stake, and how much?

  • You trade on Hyperliquid: stake at least 100.01 HYPE for Bronze (10% off). At $250,000 of monthly taker volume that saves about $135 a year on a ~$7,972 stake, plus ~2.2% yield. With less HYPE, 10.01 for Wood still gives 5%.
  • You trade $1M+ a month: Silver (1,000.01 HYPE) saves about $810 a year at $1M taker; combine it with the referral code and maker orders.
  • You hold HYPE and never trade: stake natively with a 0–1% commission, high-uptime validator. About 2.2% compounded beats idle spot, beats a custodial product after fees, and there is nothing to claim.
  • You might need the HYPE within a week: keep that part in spot. The queue is not negotiable.

16. FAQ

What is the Hyperliquid staking APY?

About 2.2% a year as of October 19, 2026. The Hyperliquid API’s estimated APR per active validator ranged from 2.12% (5% commission, the highest among active validators) to 2.23% (0% commission) with 442.1M HYPE staked. Rewards compound daily, so the APY is only slightly higher than the APR (2.23% APR ≈ 2.25% APY). The rate falls as more HYPE is staked: the docs put it at 2.37% at 400M HYPE and scale it with 1/√(total stake). Per-validator rates from the latest site build are in the validator table.

Can you stake Hyperliquid (HYPE)?

Yes. HYPE, Hyperliquid’s native token, is staked by delegating it to validators on HyperCore at app.hyperliquid.xyz/staking. It paid about 2.2% a year on October 19, 2026 (2.12%–2.23% by validator), with no minimum for delegators, a 1-day delegation lock and a 7-day unstaking queue. Only HYPE can be staked; USDC cannot.

How do I stake HYPE on Hyperliquid?

Put HYPE in your HyperCore spot balance (not HyperEVM), open app.hyperliquid.xyz/staking, transfer HYPE from spot to your staking balance (instant), then pick a validator and stake. The delegation is locked for one day. Nansen, ValiDAO and Hypurrscan offer the same native staking through their own interfaces.

How are Hyperliquid staking rewards paid?

In HYPE. Rewards accrue every minute, are distributed every day and are re-delegated to the same validator automatically, so they compound without any claim step. They are not guaranteed: the rate moves with total HYPE staked, your validator’s commission and uptime (a jailed validator earns nothing), and rewards count from the minimum balance you held in each ~90-minute epoch.

What are the best Hyperliquid validators?

There is no official ranking; compare commission (the only thing that changes your yield) and uptime. On October 20, 2026 the public API listed 35 validators, 27 active and 6 jailed. 5 active validators charged 1% commission or less with at least 99.9% 30-day uptime: infinitefield.xyz (0%), CMI (0%), HyperStake (0%), Flowdex (0%), Hypurrscanning (1%). Estimated APRs ran from 2.12% to 2.23%. The five Hyper Foundation validators held 47.1% of all stake, so a reliable smaller validator also helps decentralisation. You can split your stake and switch validators after the 1-day lock without the 7-day queue.

What is the minimum amount of HYPE to stake?

The staking docs set no minimum for delegators; the 10,000 HYPE rule applies only to a validator’s own self-delegation. The trading-fee discount starts above 10 HYPE (Wood, 5%). With less than that you still earn the ~2.2% reward, but remember the 7-day exit queue.

What are the Hyperliquid staking fee discounts?

Staked HYPE lowers your trading fees on top of your volume tier: Wood (more than 10 HYPE) 5%, Bronze (more than 100) 10%, Silver (more than 1,000) 15%, Gold (more than 10,000) 20%, Platinum (more than 100,000) 30%, Diamond (more than 500,000) 40%. At the base tier that takes the perp taker fee from 0.045% to between 0.0428% and 0.027%. It multiplies with a referral code’s 4%: at $1M of taker volume a month, Bronze plus code HOLYGRAIL cuts the bill from $450.00 to $388.80 (13.6% less, $734.40 a year).

Do staking discounts stack with a referral code?

Yes, they multiply. The staking tier discount and the 4% referral discount (code HOLYGRAIL, first $25M of volume) both apply to the same fee: Bronze staking plus the code takes the base perp taker fee from 0.045% to about 0.0389%, and Silver plus the code to about 0.0367%. The code has to be on the account: join through the link, or enter it on the Referrals page while you have no referrer and no more than $10,000 of volume.

Where do HYPE staking rewards come from?

From Hyperliquid’s future emissions reserve, according to the staking docs, not from trading fees. The rate is set by a formula: inversely proportional to the square root of total HYPE staked, about 2.37% a year at 400M staked. That is why the APY drifts down as more HYPE is staked.

How long does it take to unstake HYPE?

Undelegating is instant once the 1-day delegation lock has passed. Moving HYPE from the staking balance to spot then takes exactly 7 days and cannot be sped up; each address can have at most 5 transfers pending. Plan on 8 days from a fresh stake to liquid HYPE.

Can I lose my crypto when staking HYPE?

Not through slashing today: there is no automatic slashing, and the docs reserve slashing for provably malicious behaviour such as double-signing. You can lose value in other ways: the HYPE price (a 2–3% move equals a year of rewards), missed rewards while a validator is jailed, phishing sites and malicious staking links, smart-contract risk if you use kHYPE or stHYPE, and custody risk if an exchange stakes for you.

Can I stake USDC on Hyperliquid?

No. Only HYPE is staked to validators. USDC can earn a variable rate in two other places: supplying it on Hyperliquid Earn (3.51% for USDC and 3.28% for USDT0 on October 19, 2026, set by borrowing demand) or depositing it in the HLP vault, which earns trading PnL and can lose money. Neither gives a staking fee discount.

Is staking on Coinbase, Kraken or an ETF the same as staking on Hyperliquid?

No. A custodian stakes for you and keeps part of the reward, your trading account on Hyperliquid gets no fee discount, and availability depends on your country (Kraken’s HYPE staking page said it is not available when we opened it from Japan). The 21shares Hyperliquid Staking ETP in Europe, for example, charges a 2.50% product fee before any staking yield reaches holders. Native staking paid 2.12%–2.23% on October 19, 2026 with no middleman.

Does staking HYPE earn points or an airdrop?

No. Hyperliquid runs no points program for stakers and has announced no airdrop for staking; the staking referral idea in the docs is only a proposal. Some validators advertise partner points or perks; those are third-party promises outside the protocol.

Do kHYPE or stHYPE give me the fee discount?

Not by holding them. The discount follows HYPE staked from your trading address or a linked staking address. Liquid staking protocols stake from their own addresses. Valantis offers stHYPE holders the discount through a separate Prime smart account traded via its own interface or API wallets, and its UI charges 30% of the staking savings.

Is staking HYPE worth it?

If you already hold HYPE and trade on Hyperliquid, yes: more than 10 HYPE (about $797 on October 19, 2026) gives 5% off fees and more than 100 HYPE (about $7,972) gives 10%, on top of about 2.2% yield. If you do not hold HYPE, buying it just for the discount only pays at high volume, because a HYPE price move of a few percent outweighs a year of rewards.

How are HYPE staking rewards taxed?

It depends on where you live. In the US the IRS lists staking rewards as income (Schedule 1). Japan’s NTA treats crypto received from staking as income valued at the market price when received. Keep a record of daily rewards; the staking page has a reward history. This is not tax advice.

Stack the discounts

Join with code HOLYGRAIL for 4% off fees on your first $25M of volume. It multiplies with your HYPE staking tier: Silver plus the code is about 0.0367% taker at the base tier. Accounts with up to $10,000 of volume can still enter it on the Referrals page.

Disclosure: HOLYGRAIL is our Hyperliquid referral code; we earn a share of referred accounts’ fees at no cost to you. Staking mechanics are from Hyperliquid’s official documentation; total stake, estimated APRs, the HYPE price and Earn rates were read from the public API on October 19, 2026, and the validator table on October 20, 2026; all change every epoch. ETP and ETF terms are from 21shares’ product pages; liquid staking details from Kinetiq’s and Valantis’s docs (October 19, 2026). Not financial or tax advice.
