Hyperliquid airdrop and HYPE genesis distribution explained

Is there a Hyperliquid Season 3 airdrop?

No: a Season 3 (or "Season 2") is not announced as of October 19, 2026. That day the docs' only points page still described the program in the past tense (November 2023 to November 2024), and the newest @HyperliquidX post (October 11, 2026) was an event recap: no season, snapshot, criteria or claim page. The one HYPE airdrop was the genesis of November 29, 2024: 270.9M HYPE to 94,019 addresses (median 64.42 HYPE; full spread). Check an address or read what a real Season 3 would look like.

Hyperliquid airdrop checker (2024 HYPE genesis)

Runs in your browser: it downloads the public genesis list from api.hyperliquid.xyz (a large file, about 5 MB) and looks up the address. No wallet connection, no signature, nothing is sent to us. A future Season 3 has no checker anywhere, because nothing has been announced.

Hyperliquid Season 3 airdrop

Not confirmed, as of October 19, 2026. We re-checked the official docs and the @HyperliquidX account on that date (the app's Points page on October 19, 2026). Everything else you read about "Hyperliquid Season 3" (X threads, airdrop listing sites, farming guides, news) either says it is unconfirmed or presents speculation as fact. Season 2 and Season 3 are community names for the same thing: a possible next round.

Why some sites say "Season 2" and others "Season 3"

Hyperliquid never used the word "season". Its docs describe one points program (November 2023 – May 2024) and an L1 phase of points (May 29 – November 2024). Community trackers labelled these "Season 1" and "Season 1.5" or "Season 2". All of them were paid out together at the November 2024 genesis. That is why the unannounced next round is called "Season 2" on some sites (airdrops.io, many Japanese guides) and "Season 3" on others. Both names mean the same thing: a possible future distribution that Hyperliquid has not announced.

What would count as real confirmation

If a second program starts, it will appear in the official docs (hyperliquid.gitbook.io), in the app at app.hyperliquid.xyz and on the @HyperliquidX account. The first program was announced when it began, on November 1, 2023. A "Season 3 is live" headline that links to none of those is not confirmation. Neither is a leaderboard on a third-party site, or a picture read as a hint.

What is the Hyperliquid Points page (More → Points)?

If you search "hyperliquid points", Google's AI Overview points you to a "Hyperliquid Points Dashboard". That is a real page in the official app, at More → Points (app.hyperliquid.xyz/points). For a connected wallet it shows Total Points, Rank and a League badge, plus share and save-image buttons. With no wallet connected it shows 0 points, rank N/A and the lowest league.

Here is what the page does not say. Its "Learn more" link goes to the docs page on points, and that page is written in the past tense. It covers the 1,000,000-points-a-week program from November 1, 2023 to May 1, 2024 and the 700,000-a-week L1 phase that ended in November 2024. Hyperliquid has not published any new points period, weekly budget, criteria or conversion to tokens. So read the page neutrally. It shows your points history. It is not an announcement, and a number on it is not a promised allocation. If Hyperliquid starts a new program, the docs page it links to is where the rules will appear.

What happened in the Hyperliquid airdrop (November 29, 2024)?

Most articles repeat the announced headline: "310 million HYPE (31%) to about 94,000 users". The genesis record is public, so we read it from the chain instead. The public API's tokenDetails response for HYPE lists every genesis balance, and it gives more precise numbers:

HYPE price$2.00 open / $6.25 close on Nov 29, 2024 · $91.65 on September 27, 2026HYPE/USDC spot candles and mid price

Two things follow. First, the announced 31.0% genesis distribution (310M) is about 39M HYPE more than the 27.1% that actually sits in user wallets. The future-emissions address holds almost exactly that much more than its announced 38.888% share. The Genesis Event Terms required a Redemption Submission: connecting a wallet and accepting the terms at hyperfoundation.org during the Genesis Event Period. The Hyper Foundation's genesis post says undistributed tokens were moved to future emissions and community rewards. So allocations that were never confirmed ended up in that reserve. Some explainers say every eligible wallet was paid "regardless" of any action; the terms say otherwise. Second, the reserve has since fallen by about 16.8M HYPE, which is where staking rewards come from.

How much HYPE did each wallet get?

As in every points-based airdrop, the distribution was very uneven. Here is the full spread across the 94,019 user addresses:

StatisticHYPE received
Smallest allocation0.11 HYPE

The top 10 addresses received 4.3% of the user distribution, the top 100 received 19.9% and the top 1,000 received 57%. In dollar terms, the median 64.42 HYPE was worth about $400 at the first-day close ($6.25) and about $5,900 at $91.65 (September 27, 2026). A 90th-percentile wallet is worth roughly $230,000 at that price. The often-quoted "$45,000 average allocation" is a mean pulled up by a few hundred very large wallets. The typical recipient got far less.

How did Hyperliquid points decide eligibility?

The airdrop paid out the Hyperliquid points program. The official docs give exact dates. The last column shows the names community sites use for each phase:

Phase (official)DatesWeekly pointsNotesCommunity name
Closed alphathrough Oct 31, 2023retroactiveCredited when the program started—

Dec 2024 – Oct 2026—none publishedApp shows a Points page; no new period or criteria announced"Season 2" or "Season 3" (unannounced)

Points were meant to reward "users who contribute to the protocol's success". The criteria were "updated on a recurring basis" and never published as a formula, so no third-party "Hyperliquid airdrop calculator" was ever accurate. Weekly activity was counted up to Wednesday 00:00 UTC, and points were distributed on Thursdays. Referrals were the one activity the docs rewarded explicitly: affiliates earned one point for every four points their referred users earned. Hyperliquid "reserves the right to modify previous point distributions under its sole discretion", and the Genesis Event Terms allowed it to exclude addresses.

In practice, eligibility came down to three things:

  1. You used the exchange during the points window.
  2. Hyperliquid did not exclude your address at its discretion.
  3. You completed the Redemption Submission before the distribution: you connected the wallet and accepted the Genesis Event Terms (last revised October 10, 2024).

Trading after the snapshot, trading HYPE on a centralized exchange, or holding HYPE bought later earned nothing.

How do I check if my address got the Hyperliquid airdrop? (checker)

There is no official "checker" page, because there was no claim step after genesis. Once a wallet had completed the pre-genesis Redemption Submission, HYPE went straight into its spot balance. The quickest check is our checker at the top of this page, which searches the official genesis list for you. To check an address by hand:

  1. Explorer (no login). Open hypurrscan.io, paste the address, and look in the transfer history for the HYPE genesis credit dated November 29, 2024. The address page also shows the current HYPE spot and staking balances. Our HypurrScan and Hyperliquid explorer guide walks through the address view.
  2. In the app. Log in at app.hyperliquid.xyz, open Portfolio → History and filter to November 29, 2024. If you never moved the HYPE, you can also just check the HYPE line in your spot balances.
  3. Via the API (developers). POST {"type":"tokenDetails","tokenId":"0x0d01dc56dcaaca66ad901c959b4011ec"} to https://api.hyperliquid.xyz/info. The genesis.userBalances array holds every address and its allocation, so searching it for your address is a complete checker.

How can you position for a possible next Hyperliquid airdrop?

Read this first: none of the items below is an announced criterion. Hyperliquid has published nothing about a next round. This is only what the first program rewarded (real use over a long window, plus referrals) mapped onto today's products, with the cost of each. Do something on this list only if it is worth it to you without an airdrop.

#ActionWhat it costs youWhat you get for sure
1Join with a referral code before your first trade (open Hyperliquid with HOLYGRAIL)Nothing. It must be entered before $10,000 of volume4% off fees on your first $25M; referrals were the one activity the 2023–24 docs rewarded explicitly (for the referrer)
2Trade perps or spot you actually want, over weeks rather than in one burstTaker 0.045% / maker 0.015% on perps (0.09% for a market round trip), 0.070% / 0.040% on spot, plus market riskProgress toward fee tiers (down to 0.024% / 0%); spot volume counts double for tiers
3Try HIP-3 markets (builder-deployed perps such as stocks, indices and FX)Set per market by the deployer: for example taker 0.090% at a standard fee setting and 0.009% on trade.xyz's growth-mode markets; thinner booksAccess to markets a crypto-only venue does not list
4Deposit in HLP or a user vaultHLP deposits are locked 4 days after the last deposit; vaults can and do lose moneyA pro-rata share of the vault's PnL (vaults and HLP guide)
5Stake HYPE with a validatorHYPE price risk; an unstaking queue of 7 daysAbout 2.12–2.23% a year plus a 5–40% fee discount (staking guide)
6Use HyperEVM appsGas in HYPE; third-party smart-contract riskWhatever those apps offer. Their own token launches are not a Hyperliquid airdrop
✗Do not split activity across many wallets or wash tradeFees on every trade; volume split across wallets also moves each one up the fee tiers more slowlyNothing. The Genesis Event Terms let Hyperliquid exclude addresses at its discretion

Hyperliquid is the deepest on-chain perp venue (178 perp markets as of October 20, 2026, $4–8B of daily volume). If you already use it for that, you are already doing what the first round rewarded most: months of real use. If you would trade only to farm a hypothetical drop, the fees and market risk are certain and the reward is not. New to the app? How to use Hyperliquid covers account setup, deposits and your first order.

Which Hyperliquid airdrop scams should you avoid?

No step has needed claiming since genesis, and no new round is announced. That makes fake "claim" and "season" pages the most common Hyperliquid scam. Google's own results page for "hyperliquid airdrop" notes that several results were removed in response to legal requests. Watch for these patterns:

  • Fake "Season 2/3 claim" or "check eligibility" pages that ask you to connect a wallet and sign. Nothing is waiting to be received, so there is no legitimate reason to sign anything for a Hyperliquid airdrop today. A signature request on such a page is how funds get drained.
  • Look-alike domains and sponsored results. The app lives at app.hyperliquid.xyz. Bookmark it rather than clicking search ads or links in replies.
  • "Unclaimed HYPE" pop-ups and DMs. The only balances that can genuinely wait for you on Hyperliquid are referral rewards (claimable above $1 on the Referrals page), vault withdrawals and HYPE in the unstaking queue (7 days).
  • Tokens named after the rumour. Tokens trading under names like "Season 3" / "S3" are not Hyperliquid products. HYPE is Hyperliquid's native token, and no official source mentions a season token.
  • Paid "airdrop boosters" and bots that want your private key or an API wallet with withdrawal rights. See our DEX security checklist.

How does the HYPE airdrop compare with JUP, ZRO and ZK?

We only include figures the projects published themselves, so some cells stay empty:

Other perp DEXs have since paid their own points-based airdrops: Lighter distributed LIT to its points holders, covered with the Season 3 status in our Lighter airdrop guide. Aster pays ASTER to Stardust points holders in stages; the current stage and its claim window are in our Aster airdrop guide. Which perp-DEX points programs are actually live right now, venue by venue, is in our perp DEX airdrops ranking.

Hyperliquid's drop stands out on three counts:

  • Fewer recipients. It went to about 94,000 addresses, far fewer than ZKsync's roughly 695,000 eligible wallets.
  • No claim transaction. Tokens were pushed into spot balances at genesis instead of being claimed on-chain.
  • No external listing yet. At first HYPE traded only on Hyperliquid's own spot book, where it opened at $2.00.

Hyperliquid also took no outside investors ("No investors", says hyperfoundation.org), so there were no venture unlocks competing with it, and the drop became one of the most valuable retail distributions per wallet. At $91.65 the median recipient's allocation is worth about $5,900, and each of the 4,012 wallets that got 10,000+ HYPE is worth at least $900,000. For what HYPE does today, see the HYPE token guide; for how it stacks up against the other two perp-DEX tokens, see HYPE vs ASTER vs LIT.

Note what is not on the list. A "staking referral program" that would pay referrers up to 40% of referee fees exists only as a proposal in the docs. Hyperliquid itself issues no "HyperEVM points". Apps built on Hyperliquid do run prize contests from time to time; how those contests score is in the FAQ below.

Is the Hyperliquid airdrop taxable?

In most jurisdictions, an airdrop is taxable income at its value on the day you received it, and that value becomes your cost basis when you sell. For HYPE the date is November 29, 2024. On Hyperliquid spot the token opened at $2.00 and closed at $6.25 that day. Tax authorities differ on which price they accept (open, close or daily average), so take the exact figure from the HYPE/USDC daily candle and keep it with your records. The trade history export guide shows how to download the full ledger from the app, and the DEX tax reporting guide covers record-keeping across venues. Staking rewards accrue daily and usually count as income when they arrive. This is general information, not tax advice.

What should you do now?

  • You received HYPE and still hold it: consider staking it. More than 10 HYPE unlocks a 5% fee discount, more than 100 unlocks 10%, and the stake earns about 2.12–2.23% a year. How to stake HYPE →
  • You missed it and want exposure: HYPE trades on Hyperliquid spot (HYPE/USDC) at 0.070% taker / 0.040% maker. The HYPE token guide covers what the token does and does not do.
  • You are here for Season 2 or 3: nothing is announced to farm. Use the exchange only if you would use it anyway. Take the 4% referral discount, keep the fee tiers and staking discount working for you, and check back here: we re-date the status table every time we re-check.

Hyperliquid airdrop FAQ

Is there a Hyperliquid airdrop in 2026?

No airdrop has been announced. As of October 19, 2026, the only HYPE airdrop is the genesis distribution of November 29, 2024. Hyperliquid has not published a snapshot, a points period, eligibility criteria or a claim page for a second round. Any site or message offering a "Hyperliquid airdrop claim" today is not from Hyperliquid.

Is Hyperliquid Season 3 confirmed?

No. "Season 3" (and "Season 2") are community names for a possible next round. The official docs describe the points program in the past tense (it ended in November 2024) and, as of October 19, 2026, neither the docs nor the app announce a new season, period or criteria. Articles that say "Season 3 is live" cite no official source.

What is the Hyperliquid Points page?

The app still has a Points page (More → Points) that shows Total Points, Rank and League for the connected wallet. Its "Learn more" link goes to the docs page that describes the program that ran from November 2023 to November 2024. Hyperliquid has not published any new points period or criteria, so the page on its own is not an announcement of a new airdrop.

How do I claim the Hyperliquid airdrop?

There is nothing to claim. The genesis HYPE was pushed straight into the spot balances of eligible addresses on November 29, 2024, after a pre-genesis step (connect the wallet and accept the Genesis Event Terms at hyperfoundation.org). There is no late claim and no current claim page, so treat any "claim" link as phishing.

What is the Hyperliquid S3 airdrop date?

There is no Season 3 (S3) airdrop date. As of October 19, 2026 Hyperliquid has announced no Season 3, no snapshot and no distribution date, and its docs still describe the only points program in the past tense. The first program was announced on the day it started (November 1, 2023), so a real S3 would appear in the docs, the app and @HyperliquidX first. Any S3 date quoted by an airdrop site or a "checker" is a guess.

Can new users still qualify for a Hyperliquid airdrop?

Nobody can qualify for something that has not been announced. If Hyperliquid runs another distribution, the criteria are unknown. What a new user can control is to use the exchange normally and to join with a referral code before the first trade (the 4% fee discount is real and immediate).

Do multiple wallets help with a Hyperliquid airdrop?

There is no evidence they help, and they can hurt. The Genesis Event Terms let Hyperliquid exclude addresses at its discretion, points were never published as a formula, and splitting volume across wallets keeps each one in a higher fee tier without any announced benefit. Wash trading also pays fees on every trade.

Is the "Season 3" (S3) token related to Hyperliquid?

Not as far as any official Hyperliquid source shows. HYPE is the native Hyperliquid token, and neither the docs nor the app mention an "S3" token. Tokens that borrow the Season 3 name are separate projects with their own risk.

How do I check if I received the Hyperliquid airdrop?

Search your address on hypurrscan.io and look for the HYPE credit dated November 29, 2024, or log in at app.hyperliquid.xyz and check Portfolio history. Developers can query the tokenDetails endpoint of the public API for the HYPE token: genesis.userBalances lists every genesis allocation by address. If your address is not in that list, it did not receive the genesis distribution.

How much was the Hyperliquid airdrop worth?

On-chain, 94,019 user addresses received 270.9M HYPE. The median allocation was 64.42 HYPE, worth about $400 at the first-day close of $6.25 and about $5,900 at $91.65 (September 27, 2026). The mean was 2,882 HYPE because the top 1,000 addresses received 57% of the total.

Does staking or trading on Hyperliquid earn points now?

Nothing official says so. What exists today: trading moves you through fee tiers, staking HYPE pays a variable reward (about 2.12–2.23% a year by validator, October 19, 2026) and unlocks 5–40% fee discounts, and the referral discount takes 4% off fees on your first $25M.

Does Hyperliquid run trading competitions?

No official ones. Hyperliquid publishes a public PnL, ROI and volume leaderboard but attaches no prizes to it, and its only points program ended in 2024. Prize contests on perp DEXs are short and venue-run: on October 19, 2026 Aster was running a Grid Liquidity Mining campaign (up to 140,000 ASTER, September 28 – October 25, 2026) for grid orders on a few pairs. Contests reward volume or resting orders, and fees on that volume are certain while the prize is not. Our perp DEX airdrops ranking lists which points programs and campaigns are live.

Disclosure: HOLYGRAIL is our referral code; we earn a share of referred accounts' fees. The status of a next airdrop and the points-program dates were checked against the official docs and @HyperliquidX on October 19, 2026, and the Points page in the app on October 19, 2026. Genesis balances and supply were read from the Hyperliquid public API; prices are dated where they appear. Other projects' airdrop figures come from their own docs and announcements. Nothing here is financial or tax advice.
